Rapper ‘Krsna’ accuses IPL of plagiarising his 2017 song to create 2020 anthem

Rapper Krishna Kaul aka ‘KR$NA’, a renowned rap artist from New Delhi, has alleged that the Indian Premier League (ILP) “plagiarised” his 2017 track for its 2020 anthem.

The IPL social media handle released a promotional video (2020 anthem song) for the upcoming tournament named ‘Aayenge Hum Waapas‘ on Sunday.

The new IPL music video for the song shows people from different parts of the country getting ready to watch the IPL 2020 remotely.

The tournament is taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year due to a surge in Coronavirus cases in India, the original host. First match of the tournament will be held on Sept,19 between  Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.

Here are the KR$NA claimed: 

Krishna Kaul’s song was written & performed by him and it was first uploaded to YouTube in March 2017. KR$NA song garnered over 7.3 lakh views on YouTube.

The IPL’s theme song, meanwhile, has over 1.3 lakh views on YouTube and more than 3.6 lakh views on Twitter.  The IPL's new anthem song has over 2.4 lakh views on YouTube & more than 4.4 lakh views on Social Media site Twitter.

However, the BCCI told said that it had not received any information about the plagiarism allegation on new anthem song.
